Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists

Thanks for the news headline Geodude!

I passed my IAM Advanced Motorcycle exam today after four observed rides, one mock and several hundred miles of practice, many of which were in the company of Geodude and benefited from his constructive feedback.  Nobody does this kind of thing without lots of encouragement and help - thanks to everyone who came out on practice runs, engaged in the endless conversations about overtaking, shared terrible coffee and worse food on petrol station forecourts, and put up with me sticking to the speed limit so I could get used to the sound the Pan makes at each speed limit.

I am now considering becoming an IAM observer - another bloody exam to prepare for!

As I said, you could have passed without any observed rides. I am so glad that you found my rigorous criticism constructive and helpful. I have an observed ride on Saturday although my observer will be leading and I’ll be following (at my request)

One thing I have noticed. The bike you ride very much makes a difference. When riding the CBF1000 the other day, I felt so confident that I could have taken my test there and then. As much as I love the Firestorm, you have to work at riding it.

Again, well done mate and look forward to riding out with you at a less strict pace :P
