Honda Partners With  Dakar Legend For New Off-Road Experience

Honda (UK) Motorcycles  has partnered with Britain’s most successful Dakar legend, Mick Extance,  to launch a new enduro and motocross experience – the Mick Extance  Honda Off-Road Experience.

Using the latest and  acclaimed Honda CRF ‘X’ and ‘R’ off-road models, The Mick Extance  Off-Road Experience offers riders of all abilities, or even those who  have never ridden before, the opportunity to experience the enjoyment  of off-road riding and advance their riding skills either enduro or  MX style, on arguably the best machinery and across two superb and safe  locations.

The enduro experience,  based in Llangynog in North Wales, trails through 1500 acres of stunning  forestry commission land within the Berwyn mountains. Under the expert  guidance of Mick and operating with the safe ‘sweeper’ system, riders  will guide their Honda CRF250X or CRF450X through a variety of terrains  and trails for the ultimate two wheel adventure. The New Inn Hotel in  Llangynog acts as base camp for initial briefings and changing before  heading out for the day’s riding, and for showering and relaxation  on return.

A one day enduro package  costs just £195 per rider, with weekend packages of two day’s riding  priced at £350. Included in the package is the use of a bike (choice  of CRF150R, CRF250X or CRF450X), loan of protective Alpinestars clothing,  expert tuition from Mick, lunch and refreshment and a full day of off-road  adventure. A GPS tracker will also enable riders to review their riding  route, with a print out available for each guest at the end of the day.

The MX experience offers  the chance for beginners and experts alike to experience Motocross riding  on Honda’s acclaimed CRF150RB, CRF250R or CRF450R machines. The superb  Fat Cat Moto Parc in Armthorpe near Doncaster (J4 of M18) is the host  venue, with the Mick Extance Off-Road Experience days benefitting from  exclusive use of Moto Parc’s five tracks, under the expert guidance  of Mick and also current British Masters Championship rider, Paul Smith.

A one-day MX experience  costs just £95, to include the use of a Honda machine, loan of Alpinestars  protective clothing, expert tuition from Mick and Paul, burger and a  brew and refreshment throughout the day.

A combined enduro and  MX experience package can be purchased at the special price of £265,  making a £25 saving on booking the two individually.

One-to-one MX training,  and also the height of the bikes, can be adapted for individual requirements,  as can corporate events, team-building activities, ride outs, gift packages,  or special occasion activities such as Hen and Stag parties.

As a momento from your  enduro experience, a disc of images from your day can be purchased from  the Mick Extance Off-Road Experience for £5.50. A similar service is  also provided on MX experience days at Moto Parc, where for £20 you  will receive a disc of images, footage from a lap on track and a printed  photo of your on-track action.

A variety of accommodation  within the Llangynog and Armthorpe areas is available at special rates  to customers of the Mick Extance Off-Road Experience, with further details  available on enquiry.

Commenting on his new  venture, Mick Extance said, “Having competed in seven Dakars and off-road  riding for over 30 years, I decided it was time to finish racing and  turn my attentions to setting up an off-road experience, which is something  I have always dreamed of doing. My history is with Honda and in my mind  they were the best partner I could have hoped for for my new venture.  I’m delighted to have been chosen by Honda as their off-road experience  partner, but also, to realise my passion and dream of introducing more  people to off-road riding to hopefully share the enjoyment it brings  and also attract more people on to two wheels.”

Steve Martindale, General  Manager of Honda (UK) Motorcycles said, “We’ve wanted to launch  an off-road experience for some time, and have looked at a number of  possible partners and locations. The set-up, riding locations and wealth  of off-road experience that Mick and his team bring is superb and we’re  confident the Mick Extance Off-Road Experience will offer customers  a fantastic opportunity to get into off-roading, enhance their current  riding skills, experience our Honda off-road machines and have some  great fun along the way.”
